Brief and Random

I haven’t written much.

The words and thoughts still come to me, but their presence is muffled in the background. I want to write them. I want to expose them to the universe I have created here, but they don’t always want to come out. That they fail to make a cohesive whole is not disturbing, but isn’t really part of the vision I intended to work with.

Let me entertain you with some Perfect Moments–some brief, some profound, and some fitting neither description.

I was stuck on the subway the other day. We were heading into the last station but were stuck in a queue (this word came up in class the other day, so I thought I had better use it) and had to wait an interminable amount of time. Perhaps to make up for it, or perhaps to show solidarity with the passengers, or perhaps simply out of boredom, our train driver opened the door separating him from the passengers affording us a rare forward view as we entered the station. It was really interesting so see what he saw every day. It also gave me the chance to relive the childhood dream of being a train engineer.

On Monday, a young man entered the bus holding a can of nuts. It was early morning and he held it gingerly like it was a coffee cup. I couldn’t be sure, but my intuition told me that this was his breakfast. I didn’t know whether to be disgusted, confused, or impressed.

It’s Roll Up the Rim to Win time in Canada. It is a very popular promotion, but with it now only being digital, it seems less fun–or so I thought. Having actually won something this time (minor though it may be), I have say that I am totally on board the whole digital game thing.

We got chocolate chip cookies for our meeting today. It isn’t on my diet plan, but they tasted really good. Not as good as my Oma’s cookies, but better than generic store bought cookies. I only had a few minutes to stay at the meeting, and I got very little besides the cookies out of it, but I found it somewhat satisfying.

In my area, most of the oranges come from either Morocco or Spain. They taste fine, but they rarely knock me out. This week, the Chinese store in my neighbourhood is selling oranges from Israel. They are absolutely delicious. I might have to buy more of them.

The last two books I read were a bit of a slog. Thankfully the latest one seems like it’s going to be a bit of a thrill ride. This helps because my bus is full of unruly people who think nothing wrong with listening to their poorly chosen music without headphones or using the speakerphone to carry on loud conversations. I guess they have neither privacy or etiquette.

The Time change is arriving soon, but until then, I can enjoy my morning walk in the light as opposed to total darkness.

Sometimes when I’m on the subway I wonder if it’s a fun job, conducting the trains or if it’s boring because they’re on a track and everything is probably automatic and they just sit in there all day. And I wonder how you GET that job. Did they see an ad somewhere and apply for it? What qualifications do you have to have? How much does it pay?

Mmm chocolate chip cookies sound so good right now!!!!

Congrats on winning something playing a digital game!

Ugh…I hate the time change!!! Both of them! Spring and Fall. Just pick a time and stop changing it!!!!!
