Rain

It is so hard to photograph rain. You can capture the drips and streaks on the window, but capturing it in the air as it is falling is so hard.

It is easier to define rain. Some rain is melancholy.  Some rain is cleansing.  Today’s rain was anger and violence.  It fell with velocity, crashing every drop onto the pavement, windows, roofs and trees like a powerful drum.  It wasn’t enough to stop and look, one had no choice but to listen.  It was like a thousand old-fashioned typewriters clacking away at a powerful news story.  It was the cracking of ice before an avalanche.  It was sound of thousands of door slams.

Despite having forgotten my umbrella, I was forced to conclude that it was beautiful fury. It was also Today’s Perfect Moment.

You may say it’s difficult to capture rain — but you’ve certainly succeeded in this photo, Anthony! Glad the beautiful fury of it all ended up being your perfect moment.

Much like I replied to Hunida, I am not quite sure I captured what I wanted to. The rain that was on that bus window was rain that had already fallen and become merely water….then again, maybe I am overthinking it all.
