It might be a bit too early to make the call, but as it stands at this moment, this morning’s ride is a definite contender for Today’s Perfect Moment. Neither rain, nor exhaustion, nor illness, nor typical laziness prevented me from going out for a ride this morning.
When I arrived at the meeting point, there were more than forty people there. I forgot that Saturday rides are much better attended than Sunday rides–maybe it’s church or maybe it’s hangovers.
We broke into 3 groups. Still not having gotten my legs, I chose the slow group. I know I should challenge myself, but my problem is that I don’t have the stamina at the end of the ride. I am good early and in the middle, but those last kilometres really lag. We ended up splitting our group into two. The group leader later told me that I should have gone with the faster group. I took that as a compliment and it helped me make it all the way home.
Including my trek to and from the place, I managed to put in about 70kms. I feel good, but tired. Losing even five pounds would probably improve the experience.
