I’ve got two candidates for Today’s Perfect Moment. Maybe by writing them out, I will be able to choose.
The first is testament to my cat.
Today could have been a complete disaster. Either the alarm went off and I turned it off (not just the alarm but the whole setting) or I turned it off during the night. Either way, I could have overslept. The window to wake up for work, shower, eat and get out the door is rather tight.
Fortunately, my cat woke me up at the exact time I needed to get up to hit the snooze button for that glorious ten minutes of snoozing and dreaming. When I looked at the clock and realized that I didn’t need to hit the snooze button, I was a bit shaken.
I wasn’t late for work and I am still employed.
The other candidate is more whimsical.
I was sitting in the bus, letting the warm sun lull my body and mind back into the sleep I should have been having in my bed if not for the financial imperative to work. Most of the other passengers were doing the same. In that semi coherent state I noticed that the young lady in seat across from me was resting her mauve (because why would you say purple when you could say mauve) shoes on her pink skateboard–essentially using it as a footrest. Had she given off the skater vibe I would have dismissed it as merely a convenient place to put her board. However, perhaps based on her love of pastel colours and the obvious comfort she was deriving from the board placement, I honestly began to suspect that the entire purpose of the skateboard was as a footrest.
