August 18, 2014: Brand New Socks

There are certain feelings that are hard to replicate.  I’m not talking about love or anything like that–because I have been told eating chocolate comes pretty close.  I’m talking about real, five senses kind of feelings; actual physical sensations.

Here’s a short list

  • clean sheets to sleep in after taking a shower
  • sunshine through a window
  • baking bread
  • putting on your favourite sweater
  • a favourite book in your hands
  • the feeling of the coffee mug you always use
  • new car smell
  • a cool spring morning

Hopefully you get the idea.  Today’s Perfect Moment is a feeling on par with those.  Today’s Perfect Moment is new socks.  They’ll never be this thick again.  They’ll never be a lint free as they are at this moment.  The Reebok logo will never be as clear again.  They might become more comfortable, but that is not guaranteed.socks

It might be weird that I pick new socks as a perfect moment, but looking back at previous posts, I don’t think I have strayed too far.  Perfection is not in size, or duration.  Profoundness can be found in any number of small places.  That I found it in socks, is not so strange.
