August 1, 2014: Not a Cloud in the Sky

sun shower

Today, I got off the bus, under a brilliantly sunny sky, only to walk into a rain shower.  I suppose it is more properly called a sun shower.  Despite having to clutch my MP3 player tightly to avoid it getting wet, I found the whole experience wonderfully refreshing.  Having no idea where the rain was coming from was brilliant, and is certainly Today’s Perfect Moment.

During my bus ride the weather changed from blue sky to ominously dark and back to blue skies again.  Though I have seen this phenomenon before, never have I seen it happen so quickly.  Perhaps that is why I was so taken by surprise when I got off the bus.  I was listening to Disarm by the Smashing Pumpkins and the whole scene was like I was in my own, oddly edited, music video.

A sun shower is probably quite common, but the last time I remember being in one is probably my childhood.  And, sadly, I must confess that it was a long time ago.  It has probably happened dozens of times between these two memories, but I probably didn’t take time to remark on it.

I am glad I started this blog.  I am glad that I can take time to remark on events like this.  Those brief, and wet, seconds were wonderful, and hopefully not forgettable.
