June 17 2014 From Dinner to Dark Sky without Dread

Returning from a dinner full of good conversation and pretty good food, which I nearly brought to a complete thud, I found myself outside in a partly dark sky.  Rain had fallen throughout the day, seemingly not able to reduce the humidity.  The wind had risen to the point that it was moving some big branches.  Everything seemed calm.

It reminded me of typhoons in Japan.  The typhoon was preceded by a windy calm.  This was followed by the storm.  Somewhere in the middle of the storm things would get calm, the so called eye of the storm.  Today, for a brief moment, that is what I felt.  Despite it’s serious implications, despite how ferocious Mother Nature can be, I was not afraid.  Instead, I felt hyper alert, yet calm.  It was bright and shiny, but I was able to drink it all in.  It wasn’t loud, but everything seemed so clear.  I cannot say I will always remember this moment, but I cannot deny how perfect it was.
